Animals are inspirational and we often project human traits onto them, whether they are pets, farmyard, imaginary or creatures in the wild. We invariably write children’s books using animals to tell the story. So as an illustrator it’s not surprising to find them in my portfolio. Dragons and snails have featured quite heavily in my drawings. The snails appeared when I produced a series of postcards to celebrate the Tour de Yorkshire in 2016 as a joke about speed and they’ve kind of stayed with me ever since as an unofficial mascot. There are a series of snail cards and dragons available on my old Etsy shop which still sells some of my earlier greetings cards.
